Yeah, I know all of you are thinking "Fuck this is one lazy dude!"

You're right on that count, my good friend. If it wasn't for MMA to keep my heart rate up, I'd probably slide into a bong-induced coma and never be heard from again. But regardless of this, I have been up to some fun things - namely getting this site off Blogger, which has become the bane of my existance.

So by tommorow night we should see the new Fightlinker.com site, very pretty and much more useful. Tags, comments, all sorts of neat stuff. And it won't look like someone vomited Kraft dinner all over the place. All of the contributers will still be around, and the new format will be even easier for them to use, hopefully meaning more people and more posts.

Kevin Randleman's Urine Issue

Wow, I don't even have to make anything up for this one:

"If it does indeed turn out that the urine sample provided by Randleman did not contain any human hormones, that would mean that it was urine from a dead human or urine from a non-human."

Holy shit people ... what kind of retarded three stooges scenario would have ended up with either of these as being the case? I can see like "Oops, this is white dude pee" or "Oops, this pee is 2 days old". But getting urine from an animal? I'm going to rule out the whole 'dead human' option, because what ... the ... fuck. Okay, so accidents happen and i got a bit too depressed after the SIX FUCKING HOURS of Bushido I watched yesterday. So my doctor says I should be careful typing too much while the cuts on my wrist heal up. But what the hell does he know? I'll work through my injury like a true bushido warrior!

Another washed up fighter signs to IFL

It wasn't until Ken Shamrock was viciously manhandled twice by Tito Ortiz that the IFL apparently decided he was ready to join the ranks of other 'past expiry date' fighters like Mark Kerr. I'm not sure if it's a result of Shamrock overload, but this news doesn't seem to be resounding through the internet like a major move. Personally, I'm happy to see Shamrock still in the game, and definately look forward to his team taking on his brother Frank Shamrock's team. Don't expect a superfight between the two any time soon. Just like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters, having two Shamrocks fighting against eachother could tear open the space time continuum and end life in the universe as we know it.

November 2st Link Dump

For a slow news week, there's a decent amount of stuff going on. Lots of Bushido and IFL news but I've tried to keep it to the 'important' stuff. The next two UFCs are slowly but surely filling up with matches and either they are putting together better cards, or I know more about lower level fighters, because I'm really excited about what's coming up. Bushido's right around the corner, but I dunno ... I can't tell the difference between half the guys in this. Is it just me, or does Pride do a bad job of portraying their non-heavyweights as mean motherfuckers? I mean, Georges St Pierre, Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin, Anderson Silva. All these guys are in the same weight class as the Bushido guys, and the UFC portrays them as bad dudes who'll kick your ass. But Bushido to me seems to be sold as 'Look what these little guys can do'. I guess compared to Pride's massive heavyweight freaks, it's hard to seem as large.

Yeah, even though no one cares I thought I would point it out. Watching the IFL maneuver in the shadow of the UFC this weekend really makes you realize what a David vs Goliath the whole situation is. Shogun has not had a fun 2006

You know your year is gonna suck when two months into it you end up getting your arm broken by a man twice your age. Add to that getting run over by your own car a few weeks before your return in September and you might wanna look into who placed a gypsy curse on your ass.

Bushido semi-final matches set

Pride has announced the semi-final matches for it's other, not quite as exciting Grand Prix : the Bushido Welterweight Grand Prix. Proving that small guys with stupid names always end up learning how to fight well, it's Kang vs Gono and Kazuo vs Filho. And while I doubt we'll be seeing as many brutal beatings as the OWGP finals, I'm sure we'll be treated to some of the most technical and homo-erotic matches ever.

Phil Baroni is a fat fuck / Frank Mir no longer a fat fuck?

Most fighters don't have much of a sense of humor ... you call them fat or dumb or retarded or whatever else and they tend to get angry. Not so with Phil Baroni, who to his credit is willing to make fun of himself from time to time. In this case, the headline above is Phil's words, not mine. Apparently he's spent the last few months eating lard and getting fat. He's also got a staph infection, probably from rubbing cocks with fellow Brooklyn knuckledragger Matt Serra. This might mean that Baroni might not be competing in October ... or if he is, that it will be a return to the gassing bore-job he was when he dropped out of the UFC.

Jeremy Horn calls it quits

With just 2 fights left to hit an impressive 100 fights over a 10 year career, Jeremy Horn has decided to call it quits and retire for at least a year. According to GracieFighter.com he will still be active in training and working with his teammates. Which is too bad ... you figure if you're going to dissapear for a year you should do it right and travel to China for training or something like in Batman Begins. I'm not too worried though. If there's one thing I've learned from the two weeks I've been running this site, it's that retirements last as long as the money in the fighter's bank account. And considering no one would sleep with 'Gumby' Horn for free, that may not be too long.

It's pseudo-official : Kurt Angle to compete in MMA

MMA and pro wrestling have always had something of an embarrassing relationship ... like two cousins making out. Like two male cousins making out. Back in the early days there were many fighters who would bounce back and forth between the two, feuling speculation that the first MMA shows were fake. Nowadays, the competition in MMA has hit a point where it's hard to compete unless you're giving 100% of your time to mixed martial arts. So one would think the days of pro wrestlers jumping ship are over, right? Wrong!

I've been biting my lip on this because the last thing I want to do is become another faggy website sharting rumours about washed up wrestlers jumping ship, but it looks like the following news is for sure: Kurt Angle will be fighting in mixed martial arts in 2007. The only question is where. Real Fighter magazine claims it has an exclusive interview with Angle coming out in November, but the chances of a print magazine breaking a story in the age of the internet is very low indeed. So as soon as something solid shows up, I'll make a post about it. And God help us all.

IFL will actually be on TV again

After thousands of news articles involving the IFL and all their wacky ideas and signings, this article on MMATorch finally gives us the money shot we've been waiting for : The IFL returns to Fox Sportsnet this Sunday September 24 at 6 pm EST for a 10 episode season. So much talk has been made that I had actually forgotten that the main strength of the IFL is the fact that it is on free TV. Of course the downside to that is the censoring of any fights that get too violent, and editing of fights so that 5 matches can be shown in one hour (commercials included). God knows, there's nothing better than watching a fight edited for time and violence. I can't wait!

Some people want Matt Lindland back in the UFC

MMA Ring Report has an editorial peice on Matt Lindland, one of MMA's top 'free agents'. Since Matt was thrown out of the UFC last year for not bowing down to Zuffa management, he's been the prancing pony of the independant fight scene. Nary has there been a major independant show that he hasn't done work for. Add in the fact that he's got a cushy job coaching in the IFL, and I really don't see what reason Matt has for going back to the UFC. He's making buckets of cash on the free market, unlike a certain Rich Franklin who is stuck in a shitty contract where he makes an absurdly small amount of money.

Sure, I'd love to see Lindland beat up Rich Franklin. I'd also like to see him beat up that bum on the corner who smells and always asks for change, and that bitch in the grocery store who is always buying 50 lotto tickets in the express line. I'd say that the UFC has more important fighters to sign before we start complaining about Lindland ... I hear there's an organization called Pride that has a few okay heavyweights. Nothing compared to Tim Sylvia mind you, but I hear they're not bad.

Once again MMAWeekly has come through with a retardedly detailed analysis of The Ultimate Fighter's latest episode ratings, and things don't look good. Why is the big question in this article, and while they don't give any definate answers, they give many potential reasons. InfinateMMA forum member Zviggy was kind enough to scan a regional copy of Maxim while in the Phillipines. No word on what the guy was doing there ... definately nothing to do with the rampant sex tourism trade of course. Anyways, this article covers Fedor's rise in the MMA world and who he trained with to become the force he was. Jens Pulver is over the hill

Nokaut has a quick article regarding the return of Jens 'Little Evil' Pulver. The UFC is banking on this guy to create buzz for their lightweight division, which has been non-existant since Pulver left a few years ago. Now before you start equating his return to that of our holy lord and savior Jesus Christ (praise be to him and his followers!), I'm just gonna warn you that the guy hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire the last year or two. His first match is against Joe Lauzon, and it's designed to be a showcase of Pulver's skill rather than an actually competitive fight. So this Saturday I'd advise you to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beating.

So with big UFC and IFL shows coming up this weekend, never mind Pride's ketchup bottle slow release of Real Deal info, it's getting hard to keep up with every single article coming out on MMA. Fortunately for me, Fightopinion.com does a very good job of keeping up on that kind of thing, and I can just pass you over to his roundup of articles from the mainstream media.

There's a very detailed article on Sean Sherk, two interviews on dissapointment David Loiseau, and a general history article on the UFC's evolution in the past few years. I wouldn't really bother with any of these unless you're really starved for MMA news. The only new information comes from the Sean Sherk interview, and I'm personally holding off until after his fight on Saturday to decide if I give enough of a shit about him to read it.

MMANews.com has updated their list of matched for October's Ultimate Fight Night on SpikeTV, adding one time contender Joe Riggs into the lineup against some guy with a puffy beard who hasn't had a fight in the UFC since 2001. This is a strange matchup as it doesn't really do anything for Riggs, and it doesn't look like his bearded opponent is anything special. Perhaps the UFC realized this event was nothing but TUF-related matches and wanted to add some variety.

Bodogfight so bad it's good

Well here's a shocker : Bodogfight sucks ... and sucks hard. But in it's own way, it is kinda enjoyable. You can tell that the show was probably delayed because of the lack of interesting 'reality' footage, so the show is 50% interviews, 25% fight, and 25% fake shoots of 'Biffy' and Calvin talking on their cellphones to eachother.

The main thing that sucks about the show is they seem to bring the fighters to the island separately. There's no common area they're all staying in, they don't interact with eachother. They show up, catch an STD from the BodogSkanks, fight, then leave. What makes up for this is all the terrible footage with Calvin, Bif, and some russian chick. They need to get Carlos Newton over there fast, because even he's a better actor than this no-talent trio.

I'm not gonna spoil the fight for you ... it's okay but hard to really get into on the website. Hits just don't feel as hard when you're watching a screen smaller than a postcard. Regardless, the fight goes longer that your standard TUF fight, and doesn't make a mockery of the sport. So I give it an apathetic thumbs up.

Sakakibara is a big liar

It would be pretty easy to read this article and curse Dana White under our breath for being a big liar about the Wanderlei Silva / Chuck Liddell match. It makes sense for Pride to want the match, and it makes sense for the UFC to not give Wanderlei any exposure that would help Pride. But you have to wonder about the honesty of the Pride organization when they say things like this:

Also, Wanderlei is ready; we just need the doctor's confirmation from his injury from last week. We are still waiting for UFC's response. Mirko even said that if Wanderlei is not fighting in November, he will fight in his place.

Wow, what a splooge of an answer. I'm sure every uneducated and ignorant fuck would eat that comment up. Just the idea of the new Pride posterboy CroCop fighting Chuck Liddell is enough to make even the most critical of thinkers lose it for a few seconds. But let's ask a few questions:

Why would Chuck Liddell, the current LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT champion, go up a weightclass to fight a heavyweight?
Why would Mirko CroCop, who has a Pride Heavyweight title shot on New Years Eve, risk injury in a fight the month before, or risk further injury to his already impaired foot?

To me, it just sounds like Sakakibara flappin his lips. I have no doubt the UFC was largely responsible for dropping the fight, not because they're afraid Chuck would lose but because they don't want to help give Pride another foot up in America. So now Sakakibara is saying all sorts of wild things because he knows he can get away with it.

Chuck Liddell on Opie and Anthony today

As the title says, Chuck Liddell spent his morning in the studio with radio monkeys Opie and Anthony. The 38 minute interview covers Tito Ortiz, the Wanderlei Silva fall-through, injuries, and a whole bunch of other shit. No mention of "Dancing with the Stars" though, proving that Chuck knows he'd have been made fun of if he tried to plug the world's gayest show.

Anyways, this is a Fightlinker exclusive, which means I stole the show from some bitorrent tracker and ripped the Liddell bit out of it. K-1 in Las Vegas is a tourist trap

Let's get one thing straight : I don't like K-1 kickboxing. HERO's (K-1's MMA offshoot) is okay because they let their fighters pound the shit out of eachother. But I tried to watch a Japanese K-1 event a few months back and had to stop because all you could hear were the screech and squeals of Japanese chicks in the audience as these pretty boys went at eachother.

Anyways, the Las Vegas Business Press has an article on K-1 in Las Vegas and how no one gives a shit about it but the Japanese. But that's okay because the average Jap spends twice as much in Vegas than any other tourist. So even though only half the crowd at these events actually pays to attend, the casinos hosting the shows make their money off the Asian high rollers who come to check the shit out and then spend big bucks there afterwards.

Another perspective on Hughes vs Penn

Goddamn it. Every time I promise I'm not going to get sucked up in the hype of another lopsided UFC main event, I always end up falling for it in the end. The underdog comes out, the music is pumping, my adrenaline gets flowing and it's like I'm watching Rocky 1, where dreams can come true and it's all about the will to win. I start to beleive!

Of course, you know how Rocky 1 ends. Or if you don't, I'll ruin it for you now and tell you HE FUCKING LOSES. Just like BJ Penn is going to. It's so clear it's not funny. I mean, seriously.

But man ... on paper this thing doesn't seem as lopsided as I used to consider it. This article from Nokaut.com has a very good rundown on the history of these two fighters, including the people they've won against. I have to admit that Penn's resume is more impressive:

Hughes holds impressive wins over Frank Trigg (2), Sean Sherk, Hayato Sakurai, and Renato Verrisimo.

IFL owners think we're geeks

Enough time hasn't passed to determine if the owners of the IFL know what they're doing or if they're just idiots with more money than sense. This article from CBC.ca definately makes me think the latter.

Here's a nugget of genius from the article:

His magazines - Wizard, Toyfare, Inquest Gamer, Anime Insider and Toy Wishes - have a monthly circulation of more than three million readers in 40 countries and five languages.

Let's make something clear, 'Gareb'. The three million guys reading Toy Wishes are NOT the same manly men watching MMA. We argue about who's better: Wanderlei Silva or Chuck Lidell. They argue who's better: Captain Kirk or Captain Picard (the answer is actually Janeway, but those fucking geeks are way to homo to ever say it).

One quick point that's cleared up in this interview though is the reasoning behind the IFL's recent merger with Biotech company Paligent. Turns out it wasn't to create a superior bio-race of fighters, but rather to make becoming a publically traded company easier. Which is a lot less fun than my theory. But whatever, their loss.

The Ultimate Fighter is boring in blog form too

I've already mentioned that the last two episodes of TUF have been pretty shitty. At least at the beginning of the series we had some real blood and guts fights to make up for 45 minutes worth of tepid 'reality'. Let's not even bring up Shonie's cock shorts and Mikey Burnett's oozing wounds.

The main beefs I have with this year's series over the previous are first place cocksmiths Rich Clementi and Matt Serra. I fucking hate these guys ... Clemeni looks like a fag-bashing football player right out of varsity high. Serra ... I can't put my finger on what bugs me about this dude. All I know is whenever he's on the screen I wanna reach through the TV and gouge his eyeballs out with my thumbs like that dude in Blade Runner. I used to think it was his buttfuck bronx accent, but even reading his TUF blog on Newsday.com makes me mad.

The Gracies still think they're great

I love talking trash about the Gracies. They've had a really shitty year so far, going 5 losses and 1 win as a family in 2006. It's actually gotten to the point that I'm actually running out of funny things to say about them, which is bad because I'm sure Renzo will be taking another loss for the family this Saturday at the IFL show. I'll have to stay up late that night, looking through thesaurus.com for the words 'pussy', 'dissapointment', 'shame', and 'dishonor'.

Anyways, no matter how badly they're doing, these guys always manage to keep saying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is the best form and training, hands down. They even manage to do it with a straight face and without crossing their fingers or nothing! In the following interview with MMAWeekly, Cesar Gracie continues this tradition by talking up the next crop of fighters in the Gracie camp.

According to his official website, Mirko CroCop will not be fighting again until New Years Eve. In the meantime, he is available for training seminars across Europe. And when I say 'training seminars', I mean 'intimate massages'. And when I say 'intimate massages', I mean 'dirty, dirty blowjobs'. No word yet on the extra cost for swallowing, but I hear it ain't cheap.

Bodog Fight premieres tonight at 11EST

I've noticed a lot of other sites don't cover the new Bodogfight reality show. Perhaps that's because the show is airing on an obscure satellite dish network that only about 36 people receive. Or maybe it's because the whole show is being funded by a criminal who can't put his foot on US soil. Regardless, many reputable sites seem to have decided to pretend this show doesn't exist at all. Fortunately for you, I have no standards.

Bodogfight premieres tonight at 11pm EST and repeats an hour later at 12. No word yet on when the website will be updated with the first episode, but rest assured I'll link it on this site as soon as it's there.

Carlos Newton's Dragons are going to lose

Canada's state-run media company sure has been doing a lot of MMA coverage lately. Following their in depth article on 'Canadian' fighter Dennis Kang, they're back with a look at Carlos Newton, the UFC's first and hopefully last Canadian belt-holder.

Like every other decent name who's past his peak, Carlos is now working for the IFL and is in charge of coaching the 'Toronto Dragons'. It's interesting to note that Carlos not only chose an imaginary creature for his team name, but he also bases his team out of an imaginary city. Anyone with a brain knows that Canadians are scattered across thousands of miles of barren wasteland, living in huts and eating eachother when food gets scarce.

Another interesting fact is that the IFL is up to 8 teams already and has another 4 teams planned for it's season opener in January. Of course I've already mentioned that they're scraping the bottom of the barrel, inviting steroid junkie and washed up gentle giant Mark Kerr to coach a team. So it'll be interesting to see who else gets offered a team. Keith Hackney perhaps? I can only pray!

Educate yourself on the new faces at UFC63

MMATorch.com has a refreshingly truthful look at the crop of new fighters making their debut at UFC63. Included in the breakdown of these 8 UFC virgins are their recent records, fighting styles, attitudes, and probable reasons for why they were booked. My personal favorites are on Joe Lauzon and David Lee, who MMATorch speculates are being fed to their opponents in the same way Chris Leben was fed to Anderson Silva.

Most of these fighters aren't going to make it onto the PPV unless the main bouts end quickly, but there are two or three fighters in this batch who are expected to make waves in the UFC down the road. Don't you want to be first on your block to talk out your ass about them?

Pat Miletich thinks he's still got it

FoxSports.com has an interesting interview with Croatian Sensation Pat Miletich. While there's no talk on the feud between Pat and the UFC, there's a lot of other good stuff in here. My personal favorite part is where Pat talks about how much Tim Sylvia sucks. There's also the usual jibba jabba about how he's totally prepared for his fight with Renzo Gracie.

I've said it before and I'll say it again : fighters who think they won't have ring rust because they train hard always end up getting owned in the ring. You have to get into a completely different mindset ... as sexy El Guapo Bas Rutten says, a huge part of fighting is in your head. So the question is : Where is Pat Miletich's head after 4 years away from the ring? Matt Lindland has already proven that just because Pat has trained champions, it doesn't mean he still is one.

Mind you, it's not going to take a lot to beat Renzo Gracie. I'm just saying he's lucky he's not going against a real fighter.

The most satisfying beating you'll never get to see

So it looks like Frank Trigg is fighting in Hawaii against Apex Middleweight champion Jason Mayhem Miller. If seeing more of Frank Trigg in the ring means I'll have to hear him less in the commentator's booth, I'll take that as the lesser of two evils. In fact, if I had a choice between chewing broken glass or listening to Frank's garbled short bus conversation, I'd choose the glass.

While I don't think his return to the ring means the end of his announcing, I do have high hopes that Frank's bout versus Jason Mayhem Miller ends with a broken Trigghole. They let Kanye West rap with his mouth wired shut, but would the people at Pride be evil enough to inflict the same upon us? Who knows, it might be an improvement!

Unfortunately, only the people of Hawaii get to see Trigg get humiliated, which is really too bad. I'm tempted to make the time in my busy schedule to fly down there, fuck some bitches, catch the fight, etc etc. Maybe after the fight they'll let me keep some of Trigg's corpse. I hear in Hawaii they cut the penis off of the loser and eat it. That's why there's so many men in Hawaii without dicks.

Golly gee, lets make an MMA movie!

This is the first time I've mentioned this on the site, but I've been reading about this for a few months now. Imperia Entertainment is making a motion picture called "Never Submit", about a young fighter's journey through the world of mixed martial arts. That might sound pretty exciting to you until you take a closer look at Imperia Entertainment and the quality of their website. Their other films include the movie 'Whiskers', about an intelligent seal:

Whiskers is a family film about an intelligent seal, in danger of being euthanized for scientific study, who is released by a researcher’s young daughter. As he is pursued by the “bad guys,” Whiskers has various adventures with a family, and the young girl, who finds her first love through Whiskers. Whiskers is produced by Academy Award Winner Jordan Klein (“Flipper,” “Jaws,” “Splash”).

Pardon me if I don't look forward to this abomination of a movie. Everyone knows that Hollywood got MMA right back in the 80's with Bloodsport, Bloodsport 2, Bloodsport 3, and who can forget Bloodsport 4 : The Dark Kumite? Now of course Bloodsport 4 was made in 1999, but it's production values and wardrobe are right out of the 80's so I included it here.

Moving along, MMAFighting has announced that Imperia has signed on Pride fighters Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva"

"Shogun is a charismatic guy with a great smile who looks great on film. He will be playing a Brazilian fighter in the movie"

I hope that Shogun is up to the task of acting out this difficult role. Let's hope he's not a 'successful' Brazilian fighter, because I don't think Shogun could handle such a stretch of the imagination.

IFL has lots of flimsy concepts and ideas

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the IFL's 'boardroom' as they brainstorm on new 'outside the box' ideas for their company. You might think I post quite a bit about the IFL, but in truth for every news article I link to about the IFL, I skip about 30 others. Shit like the IFL teaming up with some popcorn company, the IFL teaming up with some photograph association, the IFL using necromancers to bring fighters from history back to life. The list goes on and on.

Well, as reported by MMAUniverse and Lockflow.com, the IFL has done it again with a Street Fighter type game on their website promoting Saturday's superfight between Renzo Gracie and Pat Militech. I've played the game and it's pretty fun ... I've always heard that beating up a Gracie was easy, but this is the first time I've ever gotten to experience it firsthand.

Two new victims added to the Pride Real Deal show

After over a week of speculation since the Open Weight Grand Prix ended, more events have finally been announced for Pride's US debutin October. Josh 'Aaaah Shit!' Barnett will be fighting Pawel Nastula, and big fatty Mark Hunt will be fighting equally rotund 'Butterbean' Eric Esch.

At first glance you might think Pawel Nastula is a pushover considering he has a record of 1 win and 2 losses. But if you take a closer look at his record you'll realize that he's had the misfortune of being put in the ring with Aleksander Emelianenko and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira for those losses. So either Pride's matchmakers think he's a worthy opponent or they consider him a patsy who loves punishment.

The Mark Hunt vs Butterbean fight promises to be an interesting bout. Out of his six MMA wins, Butterbean has ended 5 by submission. No word on if his 'chokes' were conventional or if his opponents were choked by a combo of Butterbean's skin and smell. Regardless, Butterbean has proven his ability to hit hard and force fighters to give him their backs on the ground.

I don't give Nastula or Butterbean much of a chance against Pride's superstar fighters, but the matches do guarantee to give us an entertaining show. It doesn't get much better than watching Josh rip the arms off some judo dude and two fat fucks swinging for the fences!

Hughes vs Penn - the warmup

With UFC63 quickly coming up this weekend, I figured I'd put a bit more information in regarding the headlining match between Matt Hughes and Blowjob Penn. Of course I've already made up my brilliant mind as to what's going to happen at UFC63. BJ Penn is a punk who fell into this fight from a loss. The gods of combat have no love for a loser and they'll send this bastard back from whence he came, lifting Hughes up to MMA Valhalla. Bitches will be plentiful and we'll drink wine from the skulls of our vanquished opponents.

Just in case you're not 100% sure on who your pick is, here's an article from InsideFighting.com ... a nice little back and forth between the site's editors on the fighters strengths and weaknesses. Fedor's top secret trip to Korea

I don't know why Pride only released this information now ... perhaps it's to distract people from the fact that with only a month to go, they still only have two fights scheduled for their 4-hour US PPV. Back at the end of August, Fedor Emelianenko went to Korea for publicity appearances and to be filmed for a video game called Real Fighting Championships. And what an original game name that is! This is apparently the first video game / commercial for the doughy PRIDE heavyweight champion. The article has pictures from the shoot, which looks like a cross between a bad episode of Xena and a really dirty porn movie.

Also on the menu was an appearance on the 'Infinite Challenge' tv show, where Fedor apparently got to put Korean celebrities (oxymoron?) in armbars and beat on them from the mount position. It warms my heart to see Russians beating on South Koreans like they did during the Korean war. It's really been way too long.

Pride wants a peice of the Reality pie, Tyson details emerge

FightOpinion has a quick article citing Japanese news sources regarding Pride. Apparently the big buzz right now is that Pride wants to do their own reality TV show. Considering the UFC already has a love-in with the only basic cable channel trashy enough to show this kind of shit, I'd be amazed if they could pull something effective off. Fox Sports proved with their Bushido coverage that they're too pussy to show any real violence, compared to Spike who let us watch a gallon of blood pour out of a dude's skull like water out of a hose.

As a side note there's more info on Mike Tyson in here, with news that he will be doing a 'microphone performance' at the US show and possibly fight for PRIDE's NYE Shockwave show in a different country. I gotta hand it to this fightopinion.com dude for having Japan's fight news covered so well. I can't wait till i get a Japanese slave of my own who'll translate all these articles for me! What it feels like for an MMA girl

I'm sure many of you fighter guys reading my site often tuck your junk between your legs and stare at yourselves in the mirror. However uncanny the physical resemblance to a pussy that creates, I doubt you've ever managed to really get into the mindset of a female fighter. Well, today's your lucky day because there's a chick in Japan right now who's blogging her MMA fighting experience, and it's pretty interesting stuff.

What i find fascinating is that this chick doesn't look like the standard trailer trash butch. With the UFC dominating North American mma so completely, it's easy to forget that just a few years ago they were the redheaded stepchild of the PPV industry. MMATorch, who are all about these 'back in the day' things, has a cool article on the show that probably had the title of 'Worst UFC event ever' before UFC61 snatched it away.

He's not named Quick after the chocolate milk

This morning is all about the Middleweights, aka the guys who aren't tough enough to make it as light heavyweights. This division is really starting to stack up, with fighters like badass Anderson Silva, dumb rush Chris Leben, and vaginal discharge Danny Abbadi.

Add into this fray Mike 'Quick' Swick, who I've given a pardon from being involved in TUF because he's managed to finish his last four fights in under 5 minutes total. He'll be facing his toughest opponent yet in the form of David 'The Crow' Loiseau. Well ... only if Loiseau actually decides to fight this time rather than act like a moving punching bag, which is what he did against Rich Franklin.

I have no doubt the winner of this fight will face the loser of the Franklin/Silva bout ... if the loser of that fight is in any condition to fight for a few months afterwards. I dish a lot of shit to these guys for basically being light heavyweights that cut weight to hit 185, but I suppose the fact that they're the smaller big guys means they sure can take a licking. It's always the small ones that fight back the hardest, which is why it's so much fun beating them up.

There are other Silvas out there, and they are mean

Maxfighting has an interesting commentary on the upcoming Anderson Silva vs Rich Franklin match. You might not know much about Anderson Silva ... that's because he's only been in the UFC for one fight so far. This guy has been rolling through other leagues for years now, leaving a trail of knockouts and submissions. So when he signed with the UFC, Dana White decided the fastest way to show people what a monster he is was to feed Chris Leben to him. There's no doubt in my mind that Leben was a sacrificial lamb in that fight, something I'm sure we'll see more of as time goes on. Which is fine by me ... I honestly can't get enough of watching these TUF guys get served.

Anyways, the fight is set for UFC64 in October and it's your best chance to watch a belt change hands until Georges St Pierre's penis recovers. So if you want to be in the know about this guy they call "The Spider", here's your chance.

White Supremacists love the world's most ethnically diverse sport

Since the IFL seems to have run out of washed up MMA fighters to bring back to the sport, I'm stuck posting about blogs, podcasts, and their crackpot conspiracies. This one comes care of MMA in Japan and apparently expands on information by some cocksmith podcaster named Eddie Goldman. I actually had to stop listening to Rammstein for 20 minutes in order to listen to this pile of shit podcast. Why the fuck does everything about MMA have to be in video or podcast? I don't know if sites do this because they think MMA fans are too dumb to read, or because they're too lazy to write. It fucking drives me nuts.

Anyways, these guys talk about the apparent rise in white supremacists watching the UFC. They bring up the idea that the UFC is full of white fighters, white music, and white ring girls. They argue that the UFC's marketing strategy is aimed towards young white men. Now, these guys aren't painting the UFC with a racist brush ... but they are saying that the UFC caters to a white audience and a side-product of that is a rise in the number of buttfuck hillbilly racists who watch the sport.

Personally, I don't know about this. It reminds me of the time people were saying that Star Wars was racist because the original trilogy had like 3 black guys in it. Fortunately George Lucas realized his mistake and made sure to include an entire race of golliwogg-like gungans led by that lovable Uncle Tom Jar Jar Binks. We can only hope that Dana White will learn from Lucas and make the appropriate changes to his organization.

Pat Militech doesn't exist any more

Ah today is a good day for speculative opinion. Whaledog raises an interesting point when he notices that The Ultimate Fighter skips over Pat Militech's fight against Mikey Burnett. For those of you who don't know, the UFC and Pat have serious beef, which is funny considering that 3 of the UFC's champions are Militech trained.

The UFC loves to revise history to their liking, a lot like Republicans, Nazis and the WWE. I think they update Dana's shit list every week and reprogram the JoeRogan6000 to make sure no one gets mentioned unless they're on the payroll. It's really quite amusing because it creates an alternative MMA universe where 2 + 2 = 5, or Tim Sylvia = Most dominating heavyweight around.

We've been getting a lot of emails and messages from people regarding the stuff we say, and I just wanted to clear something up ... party because it's important and partly because it's a slow news day and ya gotta keep the news flowing right?

The people behind this site have no problem with any fighters, websites, promoters, genders, age groups, ethnic groups, rock groups, or anyone else. World Fighter Championships are rich?

Following Cesar Gracie's signing of the guy who knocked him out in 20 seconds, MMAWeekly sheds further light on the moneybags organization Cesar works for : The World Fighter Championships.

While signing Frank Shamrock was smart, paying him millions was not. And the list of other fighters Cesar is shooting for is good but no better than all the other challenger organizations that have sprung up over the past year. Matt Lindland, Joey Villasenor, Clay Guida ... the one thing these guys have in common is they aren't very well known to the average knuckle dragging UFC viewer.

Mind you, there's a saying that when companies fight, the customer wins. But this isn't always the case in the MMA world. Depending on the kind of contracts that are being signed, all these new companies could be splintering the market, artificially raising fighter salaries past a sustainable level, and spreading the top fighters across dozens of organizations where they can't fight eachother. I seem to remember the same thing happening in boxing. And boy, isn't that sport just doing great right now!

K-1 is months behind

K-1 has decided to implement a genius marketing stategy, showing the opening of it's World Grand Prix on PPV not two but four weeks after it happens in Japan. What the article didn't explain is why anyone would pay 30 bucks to watch something that happened a month ago. Also not explained is why the event will be called 'Final Elimination' even though it isn't the final elimination at all ... there are still 3 more rounds in the tournament before the 'final' elimination will occur. Of course by the time the Final Elimination show makes it onto PPV, the real final elimination may have happend. Or I might have died from old age.

Thank god we live in an age where it only takes a month for shit that happens in Japan to make it over here in the Americas.

This press release announces the return of Dan 'The Beast' Severn to San Jose at the beginning of November. One thing the press release seems to be missing is an opponent. Now I really don't expect much from a press release ... the things are designed to be sugar-coated lala land fairytales and gumdrops. But perhaps Island Boy Productions could have held off a few days until they figured who Dan Severn would be fighting? And does Dan even know who he's fighting, or has the syphilis and constant fighting turned his brain so far into mush that he'll fight anyone they stick in there with him. If I was the promoter, I'd put him in the cage with an rhino. Lets see you take that shit down you greco-roman piece of trash!

Tito Ortiz is a role model

I suppose in today's day and age with Paris Hilton and Kevin Federline roaming the earth, it's not too much of a stretch to call Tito Ortiz a role model. Because that's what he calls himself in this interview with NBCSports.com. So if you're looking to peak early in your MMA career and date a chick famous for fucking other guys, you've found your mentor!

The interview is pretty good and goes through topics like Ortiz' heroin addict parents, wrestling as a religion, and the reason he lost to Chuck in their first bout. Apparently they were friends and he just didn't feel like he was getting paid enough to fight a friend. Which is just crazy. I once beat my 12 year old son up for a 2L bottle of RC Cola and a scratch ticket. I mean, lets forget that RC Cola is the King of Cola for a second. That scratch ticket could have ended up winning me a hundred bucks!

CroCop had it easy

Now this opinion peice isn't normally the kind of thing I'd link to, but since it's gonna piss of all the CroCop fans I'll repeat it here. MMA in Japan argues that CroCop's path was easier than the rest because he fought non-heavyweight opponents right up to the finals. At best, they're saying CroCop is not as great as he was made to look in the tournament. At worst, they're implying PRIDE set the tournament up to favor him.

Nevada has standards / Rampage might come to the UFC

Dana White brings up an interesting point in this quick interview with the Houston Chronicle : the Nevada State Athletic Commission doesn't allow injured or beat-up fighters to compete for a certain amount of time after a loss. From my limited knowledge there's different lengths between bouts depending on how badly you lose or if it's a knockout etc, but they take the condition of the fighter in mind before deciding to lisence them. This could very well affect both Josh Barnett and Mirko CroCop's ability to fight in the October PRIDE show.

Wanderlei Silva has already confirmed he won't be fighting in October, and Dana says there's no way he could get lisenced for November. In a nice little peice of double-think, Dana also poo-poos the idea of a Liddell-Silva matchup now that Silva got his ass kicked by CroCop. But I thought the match was off long ago? Hasn't Dana been blaming the Japanese for a month now for the fight not happening? That two-faced son of a bitch.

But just like the dog that gets kicked repeatedly but still comes when it's master calls, I feel a slight tingle in my testicles over the note at the end of this article. Dana White throws out the 'speculation' that Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson could be back in the organization for 2007. The only question now is if the contract will stipulate that Rampage's soul belongs to the UFC and not God.

Wanderlei Silva says no Real Deal match

Sherdog.com has just put up an interview with glutton for punishment Wanderlei Silva. Fortunately for everyone his answers are coherant and thoughtful, not random scared babblings like "The feet ... the feet!!!" I'm still looking for a post fight picture of Silva to see if his face has deflated back down to normal size or if it still looks like a beachball. The interview goes through his loss to Mirko CroCop and touches on the fact that he will attend PRIDE's US show but will not fight.

I don't know if I should respect or shake my head at a fighter who's willing to fight half blind just to dish a bit of punishment back. It was classic pride at PRIDE, and Silva's ego got his head caved in that night. It's like the doctors said "He is in no condition to fight ... but consider his honor if we do not let him continue!"

Lets get one thing straight : Fighters are fucking dumb. Maybe not always, but in a ring the majority are so pumped with adrenaline and scattered by potshots to the skull that they couldn't count up to 50 using only odd numbers. Letting them decide when they've 'had enough' is like letting a six year old determine foreign policy. Again, I'm all for watching morons getting owned, but if you're going to approve of this kinda shit you better be honest about why you like it : because we're bloodthirsty mongoloids.

The Ultimate Fighter is not getting any better

I can't beleive I spent 30 minutes watching grown men argue about water bottles. This freaking series is starting to be more and more like a shitty sitcom:

Georges St-Pierre to fight in November?

Here's an interesting article I found through Fightopinion.com about Georges St Pierre. Apparently pulling your groin feels similar to pissing yourself. And if the winner of Hughes-Penn comes out unscathed, there might be a fight as early as November rather than December 30th as was reported earlier in Gracie Magazine.

I dunno about this ... sounds like a pipe dream to me. Hughes has only had one fight this year, and now they expect him to fight in September and November? Never mind the fact that if BJ wins (yes I know, ha ha ha) there's no way he's going to want to fight St Pierre right away.

This whole thing is sketchy. A welterweight title fight on December 30th is a reasonable and well thought out plan. I know Dana White is trying to shore up a shitty UFC65 that's stuck with snooze-master Tim Sylvia in it, but come on now.

Mark Kerr needs the money

Fucking IFL. Right on the heels of announcing Maurice Smith as coming back to fight, it looks like Mark Kerr is prepping himself for another push through the meat grinder as well. I can't wait until the IFL starts to dig up dead people and putting them in the ring. The last time we saw Mark Kerr in a ring was at Pride 27, where he managed to knock himself out 30 seconds into the first round. I liked the end of The Smashing Machine better, where we can at least blame his bitch of a girlfriend.

This interview with Fabio Gurgel goes into all sorts of stuff. While Kerr does not specifically state he will be working with the IFL, he does say that he is getting himself ready to compete again and may be one of the next coaches ("That's it Johnny ... more steroids! More!").

Bodogfight.com sucks Calvin Ayre's cock

Lockflow.com has reported that bodogfight.com has gone live, with tons of videos and information regarding the wierd MMA reality show set in the jungles of Costa Rica. It's nice to know that almost all of the fighters have decent if not stellar records according to the Sherdog Fighter Finder. What isn't nice is having to see criminal mastermind Calvin Ayre in half the clips acting da foo'. I especially liked the footage of all the reporters running up to his car asking him what he thought of his own show. There's some hard hitting journalism right there.

The more I find out about this show, the more I think it's probably going to be a steaming pile of jungle shit. The whole thing just looks like an ego project for Calvin Ayre, and I'm just not interested in seeing some millionaire masturbate himself. Although I once paid ten bucks to see Evan Tanner masturbate a monkey.

Maurice Smith still alive, will fight in IFL

MMAWeekly is a really fun site ... I don't know what the UFC did to them, but it reminds me of a time where I broke up with this chick and she fucked all of my friends out of spite. And then told everyone I sucked in bed. Which is like totally not true and stuff. I am a tiger in the sack.

Anyways, the good news is MMAWeekly always has juicy articles relating to all the other MMA organizations. And once again, it's the IFL making 'news' with their announcement that they paid Maurice Smith enough to come back for his first whuppin since 2000. Also mentioned is the return of Carlos Newton, who has won only 2 fights in the past 4 years.

I don't know about you, but the return of all these washed up MMA stars really warms my heart. There's nothing better than seeing the heros of yesteryear getting sucked back into the sport because of financial problems.

FHM doesn't know anything

FHM has posted a gleefully ignorant 'interview' with TUF4's Matt Sera and some other guy. They ask all about bar fights and Chuck Norris and other things that have as much to do with MMA as "Dancing with the Stars" does.

The only thing I learnt from this article (past the fact that FHM sucks) is that Matt Sera was apparently in one of the UFC video games. Which is good because I was getting tired of kicking his ass in my imagination, and this gives me another outlet.

UFC.com wants you to like David Loiseau

I used to have a lot of respect for David Loiseau. He was this tiny guy who was all knees and elbows. The UFC would shake his cage and set him on people, and he would go out there and fuck shit up. Over the past six years he's beaten people in pretty much every way you can beat them, proving himself to be the full package.

And then back at the beginning of 2006, Loiseau lost one of the most boring fights I've ever seen in my life. I'd draw a comparison to Sylvia-Arlovski 3, but in this case I can't blame both fighters - Rich Franklin was on, but Loiseau was not. For 25 fucking minutes I watched Rich Franklin pick at Loiseau, and with it my faith in Loiseau. So complete was that loss that David Loiseau is dead to me. There is no David Loiseau ... only the wind.

So now Loiseau is back, and it's time to see if last fight was a fluke or if his training partner Georges St Pierre stole Loiseau's mojo and won't give it back. I don't know though ... the way Loiseau was talking, it didn't sound like he learnt much from his loss:

the training is harder than the fight itself,” explains Loiseau. “I make sure that I suffer so much in training that 25 minutes like that against Franklin is something I can handle.

Let's get something straight, Dave: You didn't 'handle' those 25 minutes. You *got* handled. Nothing pisses me off more than losers who say their training is harder than the actual fight. I'm very sure getting your ass kicked isn't very hard at all. Congrats on figuring that out.

Ultimate Fight Night not so Ultimate

MMANews has announced the finalized card for Ultimate Fight Night on October 10th. I really can't complain about Shamrock/Ortiz 3 ... I think that's going to be an exciting nailbiter full of tension and surprise. But the rest of the card looks like a rerun of The Ultimate Fighter. I know I shouldn't complain about a free show but when you break it down, is it really free? I gotta pay 10 bucks a month for basic cable so i can see this thing. And when I had cable installed in 2003 it cost me like 70 bucks. Never mind the money I had to pay my mom for the TV to watch it on. Goddamn UFC and their 'free' shows.

Gracies postpone a beating

The MFC bout between newbie Roger Gracie and grizzled veteran Don Frye has been postponed until December 2nd. The official reason for this is to avoid competing on PPV against some boxing match, which I just don't buy. Last time I checked, only British gangsters and creepy old men with handlebar mustaches still watched boxing.

For those of you who don't know, Roger is being touted by the Gracies as the next big thing, the fighter who will bring glory back to the Gracie name after a brutal year which saw Cesar and Royce completely dominated. While I'm not too impressed with the Gracie's intelligence putting a virgin fighter in the ring with banger Don Frye, I definately do enjoy the result of these egotistical bookings.

Don Frye is famous for taking / giving a licking. Plus, he looks like Tom Selleck. Even though he's past his prime, the dude still manages to fuck up whoever he fights. So it'll be interesting to see how Roger takes it, considering his family's reputation for being pussies and all that.

MMATorch has put up the third part of an interview from 2000 with Art Davie, former owner of the UFC and Conan the Barbarian enthusiast. In this part of the interview, Art goes into detail on the brilliant marketing and advertising strategy that would bring the company to the edge of ruin in 2002.

This interview also features an awesome out-of-context quote by our man Art:

it's sexy to see a Ken Shamrock and a Dan Severn grappling and punching. Sexier than boxing.

The article also discusses the public's original suspicion that UFC fights were fake, like pro wrestling or the moon landing. It's kinda fun reading people's reactions to this back in the day. It reminds me of a more innocent time where sanctioned fighting was outlawed along with other stupid stuff like women's rights.

New Jersey thinks it's special

MMAWeekly has a catty letter from some suit repping the New Jersey Athletic Board, saying that Dana White is lying about the UFC's history in regulating the sport before Zuffa bought the company. The letter, which is about 1000 words too long, goes into painful detail regarding comments White made saying Zuffa was responsible for getting MMA sanctioned in many states.

The gist of this nitpicking waste of time is that White ignored the fact that the UFC was sanctioned in New Jersey before Zuffa was around. White basically said that no "major athletic commissions" had sanctioned the UFC before he came. New Jersey is basically being a pussy and saying "Hey, we're major!"

Lets make something clear : No one does anything in New Jersey unless they're not allowed to do it in New York. You never hear anyone say "Hey, lets do that in New Jersey" unless it involves killing random homeless people or buying really dirty heroin. Just because New Jersey has a large population, doesn't make it major in any way other than being a major shithole.

I'm very glad we have people out there who think it's important to set the record straight on which group of people inside the UFC were responsible for getting stuff sanctioned. Now we can move on with our lives and work on the cure for cancer, which was #2 on my list of stuff to clear up.

The Japanese do it longer

MMAWeekly is reporting that PRIDE's first US event in October is going to be a staggering 4 hours long, one hour longer than The Wedding Crashers and other MMA pay per views. This is an interesting move, considering only two matches have been announced so far: Fedor Enemaboots vs Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman vs Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. Experts theorize that the Fedor/Coleman fight may have no time limit, giving Coleman room to execute his "Lay and Pray" technique over the course of two hours. Others beleive this extra hour is to show the post-event parking lot brawl between Hammerhouse and whatever the fuck Shogun's gang calls themselves.

Still up in the air is the participation of Mirko CroCop and Wanderlai Silva. Let's hope PRIDE follows HERO's actions and pushes the two into competition, complete with special 'crutch, cast and wheelchair' rules where neccessary.

Creepy molester guy returns at Ultimate Fight Night

MMANews has just relayed information from Luke Cummo's personal site that he will be fighting big dumb Brit Ross Pointon at the Ultimate Fight Night show in October. While I'm sure geeks and freaks everywhere will be excited to see fellow pocket protector warrior Cummo back in the Octagon, I have to wonder about this match up.

First things first: Ross Pointon started out as a Light Heavyweight. He dropped down to 185 on the Ultimate Fighter, but it's going to be interesting to see him at 170, which is where Cummo is fighting from. And when I say interesting, I mean boring. The dude was a dumb ox with no skill to begin with. Take away his weight and you take away a decent amount of his power to boot.

I'm sure Cummo will take this one easily, which is good. The dude just looks like a molester, so the more time he spends in the gym, the less likely he'll be out touching the elderly and dog genitals.

Lindland and Horn should make up their minds

Here's an interesting opinion peice from Inside Fighting that talks about the issues in determining rankings for fighters outside the major organizations like Pride and UFC. Matt Lindland is a perfect example of this, someone who on any given day could beat the shit out of any given fighter in any given weight class. But as far as I'm concerned, that's where his problem is : the bitch won't stay put. How are you supposed to establish yourself as a dominant fighter in your weight class when you have a reputation for fighting across a few?

BJ Penn suffers from the same problem, which I call 'stupidity'. I remember him yapping about going after the belts in three weight divisions. Not one. Not two. But three. The result: Dude doesn't have anything around his waist but a big tubby tire of fat from jumping classes.

The article also goes into details on the Lindland/Horn fight which happened last weekend but is gonna be on PPV next weekend. I have to tell you, nothing's more appealing than paying good money to watch a fight that's already happened. It's like paying money to ride in a time machine, except it's fucking lame.

This interview has all sorts of interesting factoids about everyone's favorite Uncle Fester impersonater, UFC President Dana White. You'd figure a guy who's probably seen a few decent fights in his day would not consider meathead Frank Trigg's ballsack attack match with Matt Hughes as the best fight he's seen. Mind you, Dana's probably all about that ball smashing shit. He probably sits in the back room before UFC fights and has prostitutes stomp on his testicles. Female MMA on the rise in the US

Since I don't really pay attention to anything going on beyond my television and Youtube, I was still under the impression that female fighting was relegated to trailer trash Jerry Springer type encounters. Which is why I'm very excited to hear about this open call for female MMA fighters by 'Hook-n-Shoot', which is either a fight promoter or some kind of fast food restaurant.

Anything that brings female fighting closer to the mainstream is cool by me, provided that the women fighting have actual fighting ability. My sexual harassment officer tells me that women are capable of doing anything just as well as men, but if that was true then why hasn't any woman ever won a fight against me?

Ed Herman to fight equally dumb opponent

MMARingReport says that The Ultimate Fighter Season 3 runner up Ed Herman will not be fighting Jermaine Andre at the next Ultimate Fight Night as mentioned in MMAWeekly's Rumours section. Instead an equally obscure and unknown fighter by the name of Jason MacDonald will face off with the creepy redhead.

MacDonald, who is making a fine career for himself losing to TUF contestants, seems very excited by the opportunity to add another loss to his already impressive collection. Herman on the other hand was very sharp in his fight against Kendall Grove, and is no doubt eager to proove that redheads are not in fact cursed by god. I have my doubts, but we'll see. We'll see.

I'm not sure if I remember who Kang is because of his fast and furious submissions during this year's Bushido tournament or because of his kick ass name. Regardless, Kang is where it's at. Brazilian Top Team are psychos

A Brazilian Top Team member was arrested on Tuesday after flipping out and trying to open the emergency hatch on a plane in midflight. Carlos Alberto de Oliveira, listed on several Jiu Jitsu tournament sites as a senior middleweight affiliated with BTT, was taken down by passengers and beaten into submission. Eye witnesses say that before trying to open the hatch, Oliveira (who was dressed in army fatigues) was jumping in the aisle, shadowboxing.

I'm always amazed by these stories because it usually comes out afterwards that the person thought he was just being funny. Mind you, Brazilians are a breed of their own - they think setting soccer refs on fire is funny. So I don't doubt that they thought pretending to crash a plane was up there on the funny meter next to convincing Babalu he could win against Chuck.

I think it's only fair to mention as well that this guy shows up in all his tournament results as being a part of BTT. I don't know what that means in levels of involvement, and I'm not about to say he was buttfucking Mario Sperry or something. Sakuraba's brain ready to be rocked again

Even though beloved Japanese icon Sakuraba might not remember the brutal beating he took in August, I certainly do. Which is why I'm simply amazed that HERO's has just announced that Sakuraba will be fighting in their October show, just 2 months after he was in a hospital being checked for brain damage.

At a press conference Sakuraba said, "Akiyama-san, I prefer no striking. So please don't strike too much"

I dunno, typically I wait until after the match starts before I start begging my opponent not to beat me too badly. The article goes on to describe the issue surrounding Sakuraba's last violent beating and what might be done to keep it from happening again. I think they probably had the same kinda meeting after Apollo got killed by that Russian dude in Rocky 4.

Josh Barnett looks like shit

Josh 'Aaaw Shit' Barnett has confirmed his participation in the PRIDE US show in October. He had said during the post-OWGP press conferences that he was ready to fight, but I don't beleive anything said by a dude who looks like a bloated corpse. I still have my suspicions that PRIDE has actually hired pupeteers to dance Barnett's dead carcass around Tokyo with a piece of paper taped to his chest that says "Yes PRIDE USA #1". But until I find time in my busy schedule of banging supermodels to go to Japan myself, I won't be able to confirm that.

Cesar Gracie has an axe to grind

The Gracies have always had a reputation for thinking they're the best. So when Cesar Gracie got knocked out by Frank Shamrock in 20 seconds at the last Strikeforce show, I spent a good minute or two giggling like a little girl. I imagine when you're a Gracie and you lose, you come back to Brazil and the whole family is there lined up at the airport looking plenty pissed. The Gracies might even trump the Japanese for being peckish about their honor. Cesar shamed himself. He shamed the Gracie family, and he shamed Gracie Jiu-Jitsu!

So imagine my surprise when I see Cesar has somehow gotten off Helio Gracie bedpan duty and is now booking for the World Fighter Championships. As a side note, what the fuck? Is there some rule I don't know about where every promotion company has to have the word World, Fighter, or Championships? Do these guys get bonus points for using more than one of those words? Do they think that maybe people will confuse it for the UFC like a cheap knockoff pair of Oakleys? Lets hope Cesar's bookings are more original than WFC's name.

The first event will be happening sometime early 2007, with Cesar's nemesis Frank Shamrock signed to fight an unannounced opponent. Who wants to bet a cookie that Cesar puts himself or another Gracie up against him? Personally I don't think it's a good idea ... Frank Shamrock is a double-jointed wrecking ball with serious anger management issues. If I was Cesar, I'd put Frank in a cage with the Rancor from Star Wars or something. It's the only way to be sure!

Japanese Fighters Suck

I promise this will be the last coverage of the PRIDE OWGP, I think we've ridden this donkey about as far as it'll go. But before we leave it, I'd like to reach around and pop one more creamy noogut of interesting news out of it : The official Pride transcript of the Post-OWGP conference with Pride brass, Mirko CroCop and Josh Barnett.

It's not every day a press conference is called to shame fighters. Unless you happen to live in Japan. Several of the local fighters were on the wrong end of Pride's love-o-meter:

"Looking back on yesterday's event, I think the two Semi-Final fights and the Final fight in particular made the event. At the same time, while I won't say that they were horrible, I will say there we were also shown some incredibly low-level fights yesterday. Let me name names. Nishijima. Nakao. Nakamura."

Congrats on admitting these fighters sucked. I look forward to the next Pride event where those involved with such dreadful matches commit sepuku. The only thing better than seeing that will be the knowledge that they will have to live with their dishonor until then. Fuck I love the Japanese.

IFL thinks people care who Bas Rutten talks to

I know that to many of you the term 'IFL News' is something of an oxymoron, but I'd feel like I wasn't doing my job properly if i didn't relay the same non-event information that every single other MMA site is talking about : Stephen "The Fight Professor" Quadros will be commentating with Bas Rutten for the IFL pay-per-view on the 23rd of September. This reunites the couple after they were forced apart by Nazis years ago during the occupation.

Quadros has a stellar reputation in MMA as being "smarter than Frank Trigg" and "not quite so sleazy as Mauro Renallo". He's often cited as being the most knowledgable of commentators, but that title actually goes to "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" (Jeff Blatnik).

In the end though, I don't think the IFL realizes we don't give a fuck which flappy head sits next to Bas. So long as they STFU and don't interupt El Guapo while he's talking, I'm a happy man. I could listen to that guy talk about grass growing for hours and it'd be exciting. Now I'm not a faggot or nothing, but his voice is dead sexy. Sometimes I just close my eyes and imagine Bas Rutten's voice is a silky snake that encircles my naked body, tickling my most sensitive areas and rubbing it's smooth but strong scales along my torso.
